Tell AI agents who your business is: name and contact details as structured data

Test your website free

Runs all 69 checks, including this one. 5 free audits a day.

People can read your logo, your footer and your contact page. AI agents and search engines prefer the same facts written in a form they can read without guessing: a small block of structured data saying who you are and how to reach you.

This check looks for that block on your homepage: a business name plus at least one way to contact or locate you, such as an email address, phone number or postal address.

In our November 2026 study of businesses selling to AI agents, 75% of the 1,168 websites we checked did not clearly say, in structured data, who the business is and how to contact it. See the full study.

Why it matters

An agent booking, buying or comparing on someone's behalf needs to know it has found the real business. Clear identity data makes that quick and reduces mistakes, such as confusing you with a similarly named company.

The same data helps search engines show your name, logo and contact details correctly.

How to fix it

Copy-paste example (put it in the page head)

<script type="application/ld+json">
{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@type": "Organization",
  "name": "Your Business Name",
  "url": "https://www.example.co.uk/",
  "logo": "https://www.example.co.uk/logo.png",
  "email": "hello@example.co.uk",
  "telephone": "+44 1234 567890",
  "address": {
    "@type": "PostalAddress",
    "streetAddress": "1 High Street",
    "addressLocality": "Winchester",
    "postalCode": "SO23 1AA",
    "addressCountry": "GB"
  }
}
</script>

Change every value to your own. For a shop, office or farm that customers visit, use "LocalBusiness" (or a more specific type) instead of "Organization".

Most SEO plugins have a setting for your organisation name, logo and contact details, and write this block for you. Fill it in completely.

Add the block once, on the homepage

It is invisible to visitors. Keep the details the same as the ones shown on your contact page.
